Apparently she does. The earth actually makes ambient noise all the time, all around us. The tectonic plates creaking about underneath our feet. It is all just too low to hear. So some scientist has sped up the sounds to octaves that the human ear can understand. The sounds are quite eerie when you really think about where they come from. Like in that book in the Time Quartet....the kid's heartbeat came once a decade or something when Meg and the people were in his mitochondria...

Yeah, when you really think about it, it is never actually quite, there is always the low hum of something, and it's barely noticable.

Yeah, when you really think about it, it is never actually quite, there is always the low hum of something, and it's barely noticable. I agree, but I think that is just the hum of electricity. Seriously, when the power goes out the worst thing is just how QUIET it gets. You hear no hum, no background noise, no NOTHING.

You hear a slight ringing in your ears....a subconscious reminiscence of your beloved power...gone out.

Wow, that is really weird to think about the Earth making noise all the time, all around us. I strain my ears to listen, but there is nothing there...

Yeah there is.
It's just that since it's ALWAYS there you don't hear anything, your brain screens it out.
It also becomes amazingly quite during power outages.
