Well, the Japanese have created a robotic baby seal. It will respond to touch sensors all over its body, coo like a real baby seal, and respond to its name. It flutters its eyes and moves its flippers. Quite interesting. Its uses apparently include therapy for autistic children and the elderly. Pets are supposed to "help them relax."
