What is freedom? I think I see it—there! Through that magnifying glass lying on the wet grass a blade of green is the world for all the tiny things
What is freedom? I think I feel it—here! Beneath my fingertips humming on the page The other dimensions are found between the letters
What is freedom? I think I taste it—please? On the glimpse past gilded bars in the prison Love Am I called Unhappy if I stand outside those confines
What is freedom? I know I have it—now. If you listen—with all your senses focused The wind is laughing but wont exist unless the treetops sway
What do you think? Too wistful? I couldn't think of a name for it.

I would call it "Freedom?" with the question mark there. Or "What is Freedom?"

I can't decide if this is a happy poem or a sad poem. I think I will interpret it in an optimistic way, but it really could go either one.
On the glimpse past gilded bars in the prison Love Am I called Unhappy if I stand outside those confines
That bit seems unhappy, but this:
What is freedom? I know I have it—now. If you listen—with all your senses focused The wind is laughing but wont exist unless the treetops sway
And this:
What is freedom? I think I see it—there! Through that magnifying glass lying on the wet grass a blade of green is the world for all the tiny things
Make me feel all free and floaty.

OOH. Thought of a name. Use the line "Glimpse Past Golden Bars." That makes a good title for this, as the poem seems to be you looking for the bliss of freedom, but only being able to find a brief taste. Glimpse Past Golden Bars seems to work.
Methink.
Or do you mean random like having nothing to do with anything, in which case I would name it "Weasels Feast On Bloody Tires."

has mr. 'wetpaint' been reading too many gory books lately, mmm? and you never told me what you thought of it
just what parts made you feel 'floaty'

If it provides a "floaty feeling" then that means it is good. ;D
It seems that you are feeling "trapped" by life, and this poem is your plea for freedom. I picture you as a beautiful bird locked in a cage, gazing out across the universe into the night sky.
I like the last stanza best.

floaty can also mean high, i must point out...
and beautiful bird? sure, if a pigeon is beautiful.
plea for freedom....maybe..more like, i know that there is another world so close its like lyra and will's oxfords but i'm not even close and even if i did know where the door was, i would choose not to go through it.

floaty can also mean high, i must point out... That bad? and beautiful bird? sure, if a pigeon is beautiful.I think crows are the best, actually. plea for freedom....maybe..more like, i know that there is another world so close its like lyra and will's oxfords but i'm not even close and even if i did know where the door was, i would choose not to go through it. You need, like, an airplane.

Okay, that poem is very unlike Wetpaint.
And the newbie member is too philosophical and too determined to undermine Wetpaint's philosophy.
Illusions are pretty sweet most o' the time, but sometimes that kinda make me feel like a puppet (kinda reminds me of The Matrix).
Personally I think the chili haiku's are much more inspiring.

Hmmm, I think Wendy's has brain washed you.
Seriously, the poem that was written is pretty sweet.
Chili cannot top an optimistic, philosophical poem.
I kinda like humorous poetry though.
I'm only very philosophical around certain people at certain times, I prefer hanging out and laughing.

humorous poetry is all as well. but we must respect and acknowledge other aspects of life.

Wetpaint's philosophies have no moral, no consideration on most consequences....

Eh, that's kinda how I am.
'Cept I try to exercise a little foresight.
But hey, ignorance is bliss.
BTW, you need to meet a person I know, you sound a TON like her.

ignorance is stupidity. you need to know a lot to live in this world. sometimes people just don't realize that because their knowledge is subconscious of itself.
who is she then...

Ignorance is only stupidity some of the time. Besides, who cares if your stupid so long as you succeed?
The person you really need to talk to is someone called Josepha, she talks a lot like you do and also generally disagrees with Wetpaint.
Anyways, I really do think that ignorance is bliss most of the time. I don't see that can be disputed very much, but then again your much like Josepha.

Personally I think the chili haiku's are much more inspiring. Good point there. Mauvais, you need to write some of the chili haikus over in the "Teh Funnay" section. That would be interesting. "What is freedom? I think I taste it- there, in the chunky chili." Or something.

The less you know, the happier you are. If you know NOTHING AT ALL, then you have nothing to worry about now do you.

I agree with Wetpaint, completely.
Denial is different however. Ignorance is a deaf man walking across train tracks and getting hit by the train, he is not mad at himself for not realizing there is a train there. Denial is a fully conscious man who tries to convince himself the train is not coming, when he dies, he will be mad that he didn't jump out of the way when he had the chance.
