Hullo! I did not see an Intro thread so I figured I would start one. My user name is maimezvous, as you can see. I'm 18 and a senior in high school. My major interest currently is music/band stuff. I play several different instruments, but I play Horn the best. I came here by way of AppleInsider. More specifically, the user named turnwrite. That's about all I have to say. Greetings!

Hey there maimezvous, welcome to the forum! ;D Turnwrite is me, and I'm glad you saw my link on AppleInsider. I like listening to music, but creating it is far beyond my skills at the moment.. I'm pretty into writing and philosophy.

Hey turnwrite. Creating music is giving my far too much credit. I can just play what's on a page, and not very well at that. haha.
To answer sgtpepper's question. maimezvous is the french sentence " M'aimez-vous?" smashed together. Pronounced like "mem ay voo " It's a bit lame in it's meaning, but I thought it was cool two years ago. I just use it for every user name now. Anyway, it asks "Do you like me?" Like I said, lame, but oh well.

I hate it when that happens, where you use a username for a few years and then decide you don't like it anymore. That's how I am with turnwrite. I liked it a couple years ago, but now it just seems random and I wish I could change it but I am already registered as turnwrite on a buncha places and I am far too lazy to go change it all.
Anyway your username is pretty cool though, do you actually speak French or do you just know that sentence?

I kind of speak it. I'm in an AP French class. I can certainly read it adequately enough and if I was forced into a situation where I needed to use French I could make do. I would love to live in france for like 6 months or so to increase my talent and understanding, but I don't think that will happen. On that note, I'm in a beginning spanish class too.

Whow that is prettty exciting. Speaking three languages would be unbearably awesome. Any reason you are learning them or just because?
I've been thinking about learning Japanese, but I'm not sure I would actually follow through if I started learning it. Always wanted to go to Japan and it would be far more interesting knowing the native tongue.

Well I am learning french because I wanted to and I would love to travel Europe someday. For that, french would be good. Also at the time I signed up for the class I was told it was harder than spanish so I took the challenge. I came to find out though, that french is only harder in the beginning, and the advanced grammar in spanish is much harder than in french. I'm taking spanish now just for kicks. It's really easy because of my foundation in french. The two languages are really similar.
I would like to keep learning new languages, but I don't think that I will venture outside the romance languages. Having a nice and familiar alphabet is comforting.

Well, that's way more than I could do, I tried to learn Klingon in like, fourth grade.
Needless to say, I forgot anything I attempted to learn.
Oh well, I guess I'll try out a language next year in high-school.

I recommend french. It is a bit harder at first but then if you want to learn another romance language you will be incredibly far from everyone else in terms of how well you can learn the new language.

Yeah, we were talking about linguistics in class today.
I gathered that German was relatively easy to learn, but hey, French would be cool too.
I guess I'll have to decide next year.

Cool. Anytime you want to chat in french just ask. I love speaking it.
So I have a question. How old is everyone? I'm 18 as of this past November. It seems like the lot of you are just starting high school or you all are underclassmen. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Eventually it would of course be nice to have people older than us on this forum, but we only just got started, so we haven't really had time to gather many members yet.

Interesting. I didn't get the impression that you were in middle school. So how did you create this forum? Oh, and how do I become a full member and possibly if the need is ever there, a moderator. That power just calls to me. Haha.

Heheh, you become a full member once you post 100 times.
As for moderator, ask Wetpaint.

You two are friends then I take it. Do you go to school together?
I will ask him when the time is right. There isn't really a need for another moderator. Right now there's one for every 4.5 members.

Well that's cool. That you all know each other. I think that this would be a little creepy if I didn't have a reputation at AI already. An 18 year old lurking on a forum with 14 year olds. Sounds like a news story. Haha.

Eh, so long as there aren't any utter n00bs, I don't care how old anyone is, if a second grader can competently discuss potato cannons, I'd let him.

Yeah maimezvous, you can be a mod once we get more people, but there really isn't much need right now.

I hate it when people discriminate and condescend to me. Just because I'm fourteen doesn't mean I am immature and have no knowledge of anything.
